Hello. Me and a friend rode the bike course this past Saturday and tried to figure out the run course. The map is not too clear and we still aren't sure we know it. We will be there this Saturday around 12:30 or 1:00. We wouldn't mind training with you. What time will you be there? Does the run hit the trail or road first? My friend belongs to this site as well but I forget her user name.

starts in Tran... do a lap on the road around the turn around... then get on the trial... trail winds threw the back side of the woods/lake and when you get to the pavillion make a right to the back of the parking lot. take the road to the enternce for phlum (i think thats what road it is) then turn around and run back down to the lake on the road the whole way. The finish line is just past the lake buy some trees. before the enterence for the parking lot

I will be there May 17 for a short pre race brick. Otherwise, I will see you at the race. I must have missed you guys this week as I was there for my weekly brick as well as my long run.

We got there a little later than planned but got in a good wrokout. We pulled out the wetsuits for the 1st time and jumped in, followed by the bike and run. We'll be there on the 17th but just for the pre-race meeting. Your instructions for the run helped a bunch. Thanks.

Scroll down on the link for Heritage Lake (pond) temp. They probably only take the temp once a week, it is going to be freaking cold! I used a sleeveless suit last year and my took a while to get warm....

I biked the course yesterday (man that wind was brutal!!!), and stuck my hand in the water; it was really cold.

I switched to a sleeveless wetsuit this year, so it is not going to be too much fun...

I don't belive that park folks allow swimming in it. I was tempted to try it. Last year I had sleevless suit, this year full sleeve Helix. I swam last week in Clinton Lake at 57F water. It was not bad. Face, hands and toes were cold. For me ear plugs are a must at that temp, otherwise I will get dissoriented. The lake will be full of duck doo-doo. Get ready.
I rode/TT-ed the bike course several times. The downhill section upon park reentry is pretty rough. Also, the sharp corner joining up to the levee contains some fine gravel that I hope they will clean up. Wind can be a factor on the bike, but it is a lap course. I rode with winds out of the north and also out of the south/southwest. Can't tell what would be worse. Maybe a little prefference for northerly winds as the Pflum rd section is uphill so it would give a little push for those force limited.
Run is ok. Last year's course totaled 2.91mi. Not a full 5k. If the course takes us out of the gate around the little island at SW corner, we will get full 5k out of it. First mile is flat. Second mile is for the most part uphill, last mile is a mix between downhill and flat to barely noticeable uphill. Last mile should generate the fastest mile spilt for the run course. I did several runs on the course and Garmin confirmed the splits.

yep, water will be cold, crazy if you don't have a wetsuit, as it won't we very warm temps outside the water either.

Best part about that report is the clarity of the lake compared to the others... 6 inches, lol. That's why they should change the name to Bikesource's Duck Poop Tri
