Terre Haute Triathlon
70F / 21C
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 14m 30s
Overall Rank = 179/339
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 28/38
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5am after a terrible nights sleep due to loud people in the hallways of the Holiday Inn staying up until midnight.

Went to IHOP to eat 2 eggs, some hash browns, 2 strips of bacon, 2 pieces of toast, coffee.
Event warmup:

None, except for standing around talking.
Swim
  • 11m 46s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

I went out pretty hard and just held on to the same pace throughout. I had to rest a couple times and slow down at the bouy turns.
What would you do differently?:

Start out in the middle of the pack instead of at the rear.
Transition 1
  • 04m 17s
Comments:

The first leg of my wetsuit slipped right off. The second leg is a different story. I got it stuck on my leg and must have looked comical trying every which way to get it off. I am so glad there was no timing chip under it. I might still be there.
What would you do differently?:

I think I am going to buy some of that TriGlide stuff and lube up really well for the next one. I did use BodyGlide, but I stll ran into difficulty.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 37s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.98 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was fine with the tailwind. It was considerably harder coming back into the wind. Taking in nutrition caused me to lose some speed.
What would you do differently?:

I have to work on taking in nutrition and not losing speed.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Nice fast transistion, Yankz are great!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 42m 58s
  • 4.97 miles
  • 08m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Run started to get pretty hot, but I held 160 bpms for most of it.
What would you do differently?:

Consider running with a hydration belt.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, then some stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. I wanted to stay in zone 3 and did.

Event comments:

My times are based on using my HRM to track SBR, T1 and T2. Since my HRM showed 2:14:30 like the official time, I am confident that all of my times are fairly accurate.

Thanks. I was real happy with my results today. I did not expect to go near that fast. My goal was to do the event in zone 3 since I have a couple of rest days to recover and I did stay mostly in zone 3. I was above for like 13 mins. and below for over 20mins.

Wind was tough!!!!
