Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 20m 13s
Overall Rank = 41/121
Age Group = 44-49
Age Group Rank = 2/
Pre-race routine:

Ate breakfast at IHOP with my son, went to the bathroom and drove to the race site arriving at 7 am.
Event warmup:

Nothing, just talked to people and walked around some.
Swim
  • 08m 44s
  • 450 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was all over people eary on and then settled in and swam very hard. At least if felt like it. I had such tightness on my chest that I literally could not breathe. I don't know if the suit is too tight or if I was going too hard. At first I over took a few people, then several overook me. I couldn't find anyone to draft off and found myself swimming alone the final 200 meters.
What would you do differently?:

Just start out either in the back or out to the side and try to find someone I could draft off of.
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Much better than last weeks! I watched a video on BT and utilized much of what was on it and it helped a lot! The suit came off with no problems.
What would you do differently?:

Pull the zipper on the suit sooner.
Bike
  • 43m
  • 14 miles
  • 19.53 mile/hr
Comments:

The rain caused me to slow down some in the turns, and the wind on certain sections made it tough to hold speed, but it was still a good ride.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Need to make sure my speedometer is working. I must have bumped to pickup loading the bike and I could see me speed during the ride.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
Comments:

Nice fast transistion
What would you do differently?:

Take of helmet first.
Run
  • 26m 13s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I had some moderate GI distress. I guess this was good since I didn't want to push too hard and mess up my training for the weekend, but it was slowing me down.
What would you do differently?:

I drank a Gatorade Endurance before the start of the race, which I usually don't do. I am wondering if this is what caused the GI issue.? I burped several times trying to settle it down and wasn't burping IHOP and I do IHOP before every race without problems.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, ate a banana, cookie, water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just the GI issue during the run.

Event comments:

This was a great race and I am impressed and happy that they did not call it off due to the weather. They were definately within thier right to call it, but they did not want to disapoint everyone who wanted to race, so when they found a small window in the weather, they started!

Not the June one, unfortunately. I am going to be gone the next three weekends getting my daughter to her summer job in MI, packing and moving my mother, and having my son's HS graduation party.

The upside is that I will only have to do these weekends once. Next year, I won't have to do any of these.

Sorry you couldn't sneak up here Saturday!
