View Member's Race Log
Sardis, Mississippi
United States
80F / 27C
Overcast
Total Time = 2h 00m 48s
Overall Rank = 139/193
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 26/29
Pre-race routine:

Got up early, ate something and drank some Gatorade, loaded u the fmaily and headed to Sardis.
Event warmup:

Got into the water and swam, was able to prepare for the water temp ahead of time which really helped.
Swim
  • 16m 3s
  • 800 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt really good in the water, much more than I did at MIM. I was able to freestyle the entire course with no floating on my back!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, train more for speed.
Transition 1
  • 02m 31s
Comments:

Transition went fine, need to be more in a hurry than I am, something for me to work on. My bike shirt was too hard to get on so I rode shirtless.
What would you do differently?:

Work on speeding things up.
Bike
  • 57m 46s
  • 18.5 miles
  • 19.22 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was tough but I kept a strong pace. The bike is something I definately need to work more on. My back really started to hurt around mile 10.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, just work more on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

Not alot to this transition, seemed to go smoothly.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on it and cut that time down!
Run
  • 42m 24s
  • 4 miles
  • 10m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Obviously I need to work more on running out of the bike, so more brick workouts. I did not like the trail run part of the race, but it was a change from normal runs. There was a huge hill in the middle of the trail run that was tough.
What would you do differently?:

Work more on brick workouts, and make sure that the first time I needed to stop was a must becasue it makes stopping a second and thid time that much easier
Post race
Warm down:

water, meeting up with the family and cheering on the rest of the field. Also had to go to the bathroom like crazy! I got some fruit, water and cookies from the food tent and talked to a few friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Me. I was really happy with my swim time and that portion of the race. I still need more work on the bike and more brick workouts.

Event comments:

Definately a race I would do again. It was nice for the wife and kids also to have a place to hang out and play in the water while I raced.

Sounds like a great race.  Congratulations!  Those trail runs can be killer.  And very nice work on that swim.  Seems all your efforts are paying off.
