Attempted to use the Auto Multi-sport work out yesterday. When I started my bike route, I had "Start Multisport" selected and pushed "enter". (Include Transition was selected.) At the end of the bike, I pushed "lap", did transition", pushed "lap" and started my run. Checked my pace, and everything was "0", as in zero. What went wrong? Should I jave also selected "start/stop" after selecting Start Multisport"? Nothing in the manual on the additonal steps.

It sounds like you did everything right.  When you started I am assuming you hit start/stop and it should have said begin bike.  Then lap would have taken you to transition and then lap leaving transition and then lap to end.  Did you see data on the screen while you were going?

I think the problem was I never selected "start/stop" after selecting "enter" for the "Start Multisport". I assummmmmmmmmmed selecting "Start Multisport" was the start!

Yeah,  you have to actually start you training session and then hit the lap button to begin each segment after that.

The forerunner is kind of persnickity about having start/stop pushed.  I did a ride for fun with a buddy the other day to a coffee shop, and forgot to hit "stop" while we stopped and enjoyed refreshing icy coffee-based beverages.  At the end of the ride, my avg speed read as 9 MPH!  (fortunately, I also ran a cyclometer that gave me a more accurate reading of ride time and speed)

I have mine set to auto-stop when I stop that way my average is closer.

I thought I did set mine up, but I guess I didn't.  I'll have to go fiddle with it again.

Motionbased will also give you a moving average even if you don't have it set to autostop.

I have a 205 and am wondering how to use it for biking and running during a race. I think my lap paces on the run will be skewed by all the time on the bike. How do other garmin user make best use during a race?

I already know I'm not risking it on the swim portion since it's only IPX7. Maybe I should just get a cheap watch to do run splits, but I like having all the data from my 205.
