I just bought a pair of bike shoes (nike poggio II). I just rode on them and my foot didn't feel so hot. Are your feet supposed to feel a bit cramped and hurt? Does one get used to it? I wear a 2E sneaker, is their any brand of bike shoe that is made for a wider foot?

Your shoes may be, OK. You might want to check how tight you strap them down. I tried a few different settings. It is a trial and error process. I have learned how to tighten them before my ride, to insure comfort. As long as you start with a good fitting pair of shoes, you should be fine. I bought a pair of Pearl because they fit the best. That is what you need to do. Go with the best fit, adjust as needed. If you continue to have problems, you may need to get a new pair of shoes. I don't even have to think about the fit of my shoes(lucky I guess). I only have to worry about the hills, the other riders and the head-winds(that come at me from both directions).

Some of the Sidi shoes have wide sizes.

I can't wear Nike anything for the same reason, they make my feet feel like their in a vise. I have found that Sidi's feel very good, I am currently looking around for another set of Tri specific shoes with only one strap myself.

I had to trade in my pair of Nike's for a pair of Lake bike shoes. I found them online at bike nashbar, they are model # cx220/wide. I may be losing some performance, but now my toes don't go numb...

Cycling shoes are supposed to be tight, ie no foot movement inside the shoe, but they are not supposed to hurt!  Try tying your strap a little looser; if that does not work look into getting a refund.  AND, if a refund is out of the question go to a good shoe repair shop and have them stretched slightly.
