Comments: Interesting waves as the 40 to 50 yr old males started with the 19-29 females and the Athenas... Sat back as usual and began run over the young ladies ahead of me. Tried to be polite. Then my sighting went to hell...I was all over the place. The strokes seemed OK...but I was all over the place, even running into lifeguards. What would you do differently?: Need to work on pool time Transition 1
Comments: Got real dizzy in transition and was upset with my swim Bike
Comments: Here's where things went wrong!!! I lent my lovely wife my bike on Thursday to ride with our Tri group. She was getting discourage on the peice of junk she was riding, so I wanted to prove, purchasing her a new bike will make a big difference. As I stated before, I failed to prepare my stuff (Cub Scout and TRI) this week and ran around Friday trying to play catch up. I knew my seat was lower and played to fix before the race. I did but did not test heighth. ROOKIE mistake #1....I spent the entire 10 miles on top of my knees. It killed me... Then I somehow forgot how to change to the bigger chain ring. ROOKIE mistake #2..... until the last third. Time was horrible...I was expecting 20MPH average minimum What would you do differently?: PREPARE correctly ..... Transition 2
Comments: Suprised by slowness, usually less than a minute What would you do differently?: Work on coming out of shoes on dimount Run
Comments: The only thing I did where I expected...first 2 miles were a little tough and then hit groove. Could have run comfortably for a long time What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Preparation and lack of sleep... New biking shoes with no practice. Last updated: 2008-06-21 12:00 AM

Took son to boy scout camp and only managed 5-6 hours of off and on sleep due to sleeping on hard ground in tent. Woke up at 5 am, got kid's in car and tore down tent. Drove to race.
Had the usual peanut butter and honey sandwich and babysat until wife made it to venue about half hour before race.
Not a great way to prepare for race. And the fact I failed to prepare Thursday ahead of the weekend made for a weak race day...too many rookie mistakes
