Extreme Veteran 380  |  Subject: First one down, many more to come...My daughter did her first Sprint tri this morning. She was very excited and ready to roll at 6:00am. TShe was too excited to eat, said it made her stomach hurt, so she raced on a bag of power bites. She did great and enjoyed the race. The run and bike were tough, a lot of uphill climbs. But, she didn't seem to mind. Her swim was awesome, beat the overall female winner by 30 seconds. And she made some new triahtlete friends. All in all, a very successful day! Thanks to all you guys for your help and encouragement. ps. I added photos from this morning to the album. |

| Extreme Veteran 380 | Subject: RE: First one down, many more to come... You know, Sharon, she was all smiles at the finish, coming out of the pool. But heading into the transition area after the run, she looked like would bite my head off, so I kept my distance and just said "great job". She asked me to come into the transition area with her and I told I wasn't allowed, so she just hopped on the bike and off she went. This was a reverse tri, so she finished with the swim. I don't think it is her blood sugar because she hardly ate anything yesterday or this morning. Every time she ate, she said she was full after a couple of bites, so I think she was nervous. If it was her blood sugar, it surely would have been out of whack this morning, all she had was a handful of power bites and some gatorade. It must have something to do with running. 11 year old girls!!!! Who knows???? Anyway, she was fine today. We'll see what happens next week. She is doing a duathlon, so it will be interesting to see the difference between finishing with a swim and finishing with a run. |

| , Alabama | Subject: RE: First one down, many more to come... I'm not sure. My hubby's training for a 1/2 IM and Sundays are his day with Team in Training. Maybe I can get him to trade. If not I'll have to take the kids with me (I've done that before wtih my 11-year-old wtih sprints at Tradewinds and had him volunteer at the water stop to give him something to do, but not the younger one). I just don't know yet. I'll let you know. Sharon |

That is a great idea to have your kids volunteer. Maybe I will do that too. And I'll post her results when they get them on the web. I didn't write down her splits(?), is that what you call them? I know her overall was 1.28:00 and her swim was 6:47, not sure on the run and bike. I hope to see you next weekend. |

She was feelin' the luv... She asked if she could have her own name on this forum, so I am going to register her as herdaughter, since that is what you guys call her anyway! OK, now I am just bragging on my baby...but, they posted the results of her race and she was the fastest swimmer in the whole race. She beat the fastest male by 1 second! And that was with the swim at the end of the race. I can't wait to see how she does with the swim first. Also, she cut both her transition times by half from her last race. And she keeps saying stuff like next time I'll do this, that will save me some time and if I work on this, I'll be faster next time. She is so psyched, can't wait to race again. |

You know, not to put the cart before the horse, but maybe some of the tri-product companies would be interested in sponsoring her. A lot of them have sponsorship info on their websites. It's a way to get lots of free products, from food to clothes. |

They provide uniforms which of course everyone sees when she steps to the podium to claim her award after the race. Part of her deal is that she has to place, and she does. She also brings samples to all the races from 1 sponsor and wears other clothing from yet another. I'm not sure if she has any yet that pay entry fees. |
