I think you meant to say most of the people had road bikes. I think Potts had a road bike, if I remember correctly.

Sorry, my bad. I did mean to say they had road bikes with aero bars!

I rode a road bike with aerobars this year at the event. I think that was the most popular choice. There were many dedicated Tri bikes, but there also many simple road bikes and even a handful of mountain bikes. I heard more than one person say that this was one triathlon where they did not get into an aero position very much because of the hills. I thought my clip-ons came in mighty handy.

I used a dedicated road bike no aerobars at all. I wish that I would have slapped some on there. They would have come in handy during a couple parts of the race.

Yes, the sand ladder was a killer. I hope that I have the chance to go back and do it again next year!
