Well, I started out good. Good rhythm and breathing and form. Maintaining a good pace for me and keeping up with the pack. got to the first buoy in good shape. Turned the bouy then things went downhill. The winds picked up and were causing the waves to spray and we were now against the current. Still trying to maintain rhythm I sighted the next buoy and found I was about 1/2 way to the next. (Sweet, I'm doing better than I expected!) I put my head back down for several minutes and when I sighted again the buoy was about 2X as far away as it was the 1st time it was sighted. ??? Maybe I was hallucinating. I kept swimming. By the time I finally felt like I was making progress a race official on a jet ski pointed to the several of us still out there to the third buoy and said the 2nd broke loose. How much further did we actually swim? I started heading to the 3rd buoy when I realized I was getting feeling of cool water on my back. I reached back and realized my wetsuit zipper was at my waist and had come off the track. #%$&* Thankfully one of the lifeguards had helped me out and I got back to swimming. Did a mix of freestyle, backstroke, and doggie paddle most of the rest of the way. I think my tri swims and cursed...
