Total Time = 3h 04m 35s
Overall Rank = 132/159
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 20/21
Pre-race routine:

Couldn't sleep, up at 3:15. Plenty of time to prep. Ate toast w/peanut butter and 3/4 of a ClifBar. Pounded water and Gatorade. Packed up and got over there nice and early.
Event warmup:

Ran 400 meters and swam about 250 meters.
Swim
  • 32m 18s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 09s / 100 meters
Comments:

My first olympic swim and it was great...for me. I could've pushed a little bit harder, but I'm happy with my time. Relatively problem free swim with good sighting.
What would you do differently?:

Push a tiny bit harder.
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Forgot to shift into a good starting gear.
What would you do differently?:

Prep bike better.
Bike
  • 1h 32m 9s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.18 mile/hr
Comments:

Blew a tube 1/2 mile into the ride. Changed tires the night before and my pump broke so I couldn't test the tires. Must've pinched a tube when I reinstalled them and then in blew at the beginning of hte ride. Couldn't get the tire off the wheel as it wouldn't stretch and I broke the tire lever. Walked it back to transition and managed to get help to change it. Probably lost about 30 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

NEVER mess with the bike set-up without testing it before the race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

Fairly smooth transition. Could've been faster had I not lost some of my steam.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.
Run
  • 55m 41s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

The run got HOT. Might've drank a bit too much Gatorade as I got a bit nauseas. Need to work on hydration and nutrition plan. I didn't have as much gas left as I had hoped.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked for 15 minutes or so and then stretched. Ate a banana and a bagel.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and poor bike prep.

Event comments:

Good race, just bummed my first olympic had such an issue.

Way to tough it through the bike problems... I saw about 5+ cyclists with flats so you weren't the only one out there.

Congrats on your first Oly
