Pre-race routine:

Bird and I loaded up the kids an met parents and MTMOI in the parking lot to drive over. Ate english muffin and drank coffee as we listen to Speed Racers latest video.
Event warmup:

Swam 200M in the awesome pool at Cooper. It's really cool out there.

Comments:

The pool at the Cooper is really cool and the set up was great. Just so happened that my race number was 75 and John (jcagg90) was 74 and his smooth stroll through the pool was just about the perfect draft for me. The last 50M, the lane is about twice as wide as the others and I decided to break off and pick it up to the end. Thanks to John for the pull and I came out of the swim feeling really good. PR on the swim pace @ 1:39 per 100M.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, the pool was a cluster in a few areas and I could have just went out and tried to sprint the whole thing, but this worked well.
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

T1 was okay, a few minor issues, still haven't had the perfect T1.
Bike

Comments:

Bike was my best to date. Watts were under what I am capable of, but I backed off on the second loop to try and save for the run. At about mile 2 my seat nose slammed down again, so the remaining 10 miles was extremely uncomfortable. I've got to get this figured out, may be stripped. Anyway my legs were in my chin most of the ride. First loop I went out hard and almost lost it coming into the first turn into the neighborhood streets. Flew past everyone until the second loop, when I saw MTMOI and some other guy on a P2C. Went past both as we turned into the neighborhood and the P2C guy followed me up until just before the turnaround. He past me and I paced off him for the remainder of the second loop. He was in my AG and his race number was in the 60's so I knew he had started in front of me. My seat was driving me crazy as I got to the finish, had a great dismount and past the P2C guy as we got into T2.
What would you do differently?:

Fix my seat. I would really like to do a race in a comfortable position.
Transition 2

Comments:

Okay T2. Need to work on this.
Run
  • 22m 4s

Comments:

Had a great run. PR for this distance. Felt good the majority of the way and pushed it to the end. At about mile 2.5, just past the last aid station, some guy was screaming at the concrete in pure accelerade. It was violent and a ton, I saw 3 screams before I went by him and the girl at the turn was trying not to look at him, she looked pale. He recovered well and I saw him finish right after me.
What would you do differently?:

I would have like to have known my splits, but my watch was screwed up.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with parents, Brent, Jen, and got razzed by John for drafting him. Watched Bird finish and claim a 2nd in AG trophy.

Event comments:

good race. would do it again.

thats a fast bike split good job overall too. ..when I move I NEED to bike with you. I think I am going to go check out Purtis Creek State Park in Eustace. I think its gonna be around 15 miles from where I am going to be at.

Great job, but you were robbed. 8th overall deserves better than 4th in your AG.

Gee thanks, that was me screaming at the concrete. Something about Accelerade that was almost pure concentrate when you were expecting water didn't sit well with me. After I "yelled at the concrete" I felt like a million bucks and tried to run you down, almost..maybe next time. Great race......congrats!
