i felt like this swim sucked but thats just because the other people in my wave dropped me big time. my team manager for some reason signed me up as elite (LOL) so i tried to hang with the lead group of guys on the swim for as long as i could but i could only hang on until the first turn. i knew if i tried to keep swimming that pace i would blow up really fast and ruin my whole race so i backed off a little but still swam hard and overall im pretty happy with the swim for me. im still definitely losing the race in the swim though because i come out of the water 2-3 minutes down on the lead group and thats tough to make up in such a short race.
What would you do differently?:

2008-9 the winter of the pool...

hustled my butt as fast as i could as i knew i had to make up time from the swim. best t1 in my AG and i even dropped my helmet / sunglasses :)

Comments:

oooouch. my legs were total toast on this ride from the 80 miler yesterday. i knew within the first 2 miles that this was gonna hurt and it sure did. i pushed as hard i could but every little "hill" and acceleration sucked and i just didnt have it today. oh, and i hate 180 degree turn arounds...stupid idea in any race
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

well i had a good jumping / running dismount (which is still my favorite part) and then i managed to attempt to rack my bike, drop my bike sideways, pick up my bike, struggle to actually rack it, put on my shoes and then take off running towards the wrong end of transition...yikes lol
What would you do differently?:

not drop bike and know where im going...

Comments:

well i took off to catch scott, passed him but then got passed by a guy in my AG at about the 1 mile mark. wasnt killing myself but still running pretty hard and i was looking in front of me and saw only 5 other guys! so i was just trying to chase them down and i was actually reeling back 2 of them. followed the others out until we saw 2 guys with a sign that said 1/2 sprint which seemed like it was about 1.5 miles out and the super sprint was suppose to be a 1.5 mile run so the guys in front of me and myself turned there when in reality we were suppose to go another couple hundred yards down the road. not much we could do as athletes, just bad course marking and directions from the people at the turn arounds and the RD was very understanding and frustrated at the mistake that could have been avoided with better communication and course marking. i just dont think its a good idea to have 3 different distances of races on the same course. oh well, it didnt affect a ton and i think everyone still came out happy.
