Total Time = 5h 11m 24s
Overall Rank = 115/299
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 22/40
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 3:30am. Coffee, fruit and left for Chisago Lakes at 4:30am got a good parking spot and setup gear in transition.
Event warmup:

No warmup.
Swim
  • 38m 54s
  • 1931 meters
  • 02m 01s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim Course was fine. It was only my second open water swim at this distance. 1st being Liberty Tri in June. Enjoyed the swim at Chisago much better and the water was alot warmer. I think I am ready for IMLOU though.
Transition 1
  • 02m 36s
Comments:

In and out as fast as I could.
Bike
  • 2h 43m 16s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.58 mile/hr
Comments:

My fastest time on the bike at this distance. Good course. I was in the last swim wave given I regsistered on Thursday prior to race and I did not like weaving in and out of the sprint traffic. Heart rate was in the 130-140bpm during the bike.
What would you do differently?:

I had to stop and take a leak on the bike twice. I guess that is good though. At least I know I am drinking enough. Maybe to much?
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Change socks, put on running hat and hit the road.
Run
  • 1h 44m 57s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt good off the bike I can really see an improvement in my running of the bike. The 45 min to 1 hour bricks after the long ride have made a difference. Alternated water/gatorade at each aid station. Felt good the whole run. Heart rate averaged 155-160bpm duing the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Packed up my gear grabbed a burger at Culvers and went to my kids cheerleading practice until 6pm. Boy was I spent by the time I got home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I could have pushed harder on the run and pulled maybe a 1:40 or 1:41. I have no complaints about my bike time and the swim I think that is about the best I can do for now.

Event comments:

Good race may do it again next year. The only complaint I can think of is waving in and out the people from the sprint. I went from a 5:42:42 at Liberty Tri in June to a 5:11:24 at Chisago HIM. Up next IMLOU.
