Pre-race routine:

Spent the night at a hotel with two friends. We packed up and headed to the race site. Found a good parking spot and didnt have too much time to grab our packets and get set up.
Event warmup:

Only got to bike WU. Thought the race didnt start until 8 something. Anyways.. it started 30mins earlier than I thought. Finished setting up my transition and rushed to finish all my other chores before the gun went off.
Swim
  • 07m 59s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Best swim i've ever had. Started in the very front. Gun went off and I was in 2nd place. Just stayed right there. The first place guy got away for awhile but I reeled him in pretty quick and just hung onto his feet all the way to the shore. Came out of the water literally 3seconds behind him.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Perfect swim.
Transition 1
  • 00m 36s
Comments:

Best transition ever. Took 1st place while in transition. Came out wayyyy ahead of him.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 16s

  • 10.27 mile/hr
Comments:

I really didnt want to write about this for the longest time. I'm going to keep it short and to the point.

I came out of transition in first place. I immediatlely started following the lead motorcycle. We headed out onto RT 66 and I just cranked with my head down as hard as possible. In the meantime the "race management" didnt put a cone NOR A PERSON at the bike turnaround. So I just followed the motorcycle (a police escort) until we passed what I guess was a race vehicle going the other direction. When the vehicle passed I guess he yelled "TURN AROUND" but I couldnt hear him. The motorcycle ahead turns around and just drives off.

I had just gotten royaly fucked by that race. I had ridden the entire olympic distance course. In a sprint tri.

I have nothing else to say about that.
What would you do differently?:

Not race a tri-okc event again.
Transition 2
  • 03m 16s
Comments:

I glided up to transition to find Jeepfleeb waiting on me. I got off and just talked to him. I was SO mad I really didnt know what to say. I took my sweet ass time in transition all the while talking to Aaron.
What would you do differently?:

Run
  • 21m 42s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran comfortable the whole time. Stopped and talked to friends for a min or so. Walked the aid station turnaround to talk with the volunteers. Played with this kids head by acting like I was hurting....
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Warm down:

Walked to the race director.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor course management by race director.

Event comments:

Writing this race report has brought back back memories. One positive thing I can say about this race is that they had some cool looking hardware. Race Management was nice in offering me a comp'd entry into any of their races but that doesnt get me the 100 points I was going for at there race. Instead of wasting my time at their race I could have been working back in dallas earning money. Not wasting it on hotels and what not.

that just sucks... hopefully writing about will finish getting it out of your system

you have many more bigger races in your future anyway

although since I have experience with the www.fireavery.com movement I could launch a website in your honor
