Comments:

I wanted to try to run a 9 min pace. My only other 10K was 1:00:33 - a 9:46 pace. Todays was around 9:16 min/mile. Was still a good race; final time was 57:27.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe a little more track work in preparation, so I could dial in the desired pace better. My Garmin watch was telling me my pace, but its hard to keep looking at it while running.
Post race
Warm down:

Fluids, carbs, walking around, mild stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I guess the usual culprits. My weight is creeping down (always a battle). As I get lighter, if I keep even the same training regimin, I'm sure that my times will drop. The bridges on the course were a surprise to me. I was thinking the entire course would be flat. It probably cost me 2 minutes. Not a big deal, but my mental picture of the course was flawed...Should have driven the course!!

My hip was acting up earlier in the week, but was ok out there today. Hopefully it still feels good over the next few days.

Event comments:

Its a beutiful course, well run race, and lots of volunteers. My only issues is not all of the mile markers are obvious and there was a major snafu on the course where people were taking a wrong turn and everyone was following. It only cost me about a 100yds but some people either ran a shorter course due to this, or double back and ran longer. I've never seen this happen at any of the other races from this event coordinator - it was just a weird fluke.

My heart rate monitor did not seem to work. Whats up with that, the thing is brand new.... (my Garmin F301). However, I did get some good pace info from it. BTW, it measured the course at 6.28 miles.....probably just the error factor of the GPS kicking in...
Course: Started at South Shores Park (by Seaworld). A fast 10K course with a beautiful run along Crown Point. Some minor hills as you go up and over a few water bridges...
