Sunny
Total Time = 2h 40m 52s
Overall Rank = 89/265
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 13/20
Pre-race routine:

Anxiety Attack upon waking up (of course). Potty visit, 16oz. water, 1 bite of powerbar.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 35m 39s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a practice run for me in that I didn't know what it would be like to swim 1600m. Reserved my efforts to avoid flaking out during the swim. Approach worked really well as I felt great walking out of the swim. I can definitely go harder at Accenture.
What would you do differently?:

Follow the pack a bit more to account for poor ability to sight for bouys.
Transition 1
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Did not have shoes clipped in to start. Firm grass to run on out of T1 so I just put shoes on in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 15m 45s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Had no idea how hard biking really could be. At 24 miles this was my longest and hilly-est ride to date. I could definitely use more training. Very good idea, now, what I could do on the flat course of the Accenture.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely could have trained more in preparation. As for in the race...nothing. I did the best I could and hydrated and took nutrients as well as I could
Transition 2
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Kept shoes on and unclipped at dismount line. Big mistake. My thighs were too crampy to pull my leg up and dislodge my foot from the bike shoe. It took a lot of time and a lot of pain to get out of my shoes when it's such an easy task.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely get out of shoes before dismount line to avoid being to crampy to take them off in T2. Tried something different this time and it backfired on me b/c of the distance of the bike leg and my poor training.
Also, might be a good idea to put socks on in T1 to avoid it in T2 as I may be too cramped up to bend over to put socks on....will have to see.
Run
  • 46m 5s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Had to take it super slow as the cramping issue continued and jelly-legs were in full effect! Mentally, I was prepared for this issue and fought thru some severe spasms but thankfully none of them took hold. Full mile passed by before I started to feel my legs come back and I decided to put down the hammer around mile 2.5. Thigh muscle directly above knee cap began to cramp with each landed left foot step and that kept my pace down lower than I wanted.
What would you do differently?:

Not too much. Possibly have more nutrients (GU) for the run.
Post race
Warm down:

None. Two waters at end of race. Light stretching after event pasta.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

CRAMPING! This would be a direct result of the poor training coupled with the challenging bike course.

Event comments:

Really "Fun" race to run. Event staff were present and helpful. Volunteers needed more education about key race locations and descriptions but you can't hold that against them. This was the first time at this location so that explains quite a bit. Awesome Raffle Prize, I wish I won!
