Comments: Felt so good. Legs were strong. First mile was at 6:05, second mile a 6:24. Breathing was firm and close to the edge for the whole race, but not at max. Timed my finish for a hard sprint with 2 1/2 minutes left so I could put a couple of guys behind be at the finish line who might have been in my age group. Turns out they weren't and the guy who beat me won by 1:04, so I didn't really have a chance to take any kind of shot at him with so little time left. What would you do differently?: I think I have an even slightly faster pace inside, but considering I've done only base training and no speed work since last August, except for an occasional race, I can't really expect to be much faster right now. Post race
Warm down: Waited almost 2 hours for results and awards that never came. Computer problem. They came up shortly after everyone was dismissed, and they were posted online very quickly. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed training. Event comments: This will be an annual race. Can't always expect it to be in the 50s in February - in fact can never expect that. But I love the flat course. It really allows you to set up your best, fastest pace and make a go of it. Last updated: 2005-02-05 12:00 AM

Breakfast, light stretching. Oh, and got the car washed this morning. That must have helped too.
Slow jog of 1/2 mile or so to get blood to the legs and HR higher.
