Swim
  • 10m 44s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

First open water swim. Felt suprisingly panicked midway through. Ingested a large amount of water. Swam at least 100m of breaststroke to try an calm down.
What would you do differently?:

Stay a bit wider out of the muck. Work on staying positive and swimming my own race.
Transition 1
  • 02m 13s
Comments:

Transitions will improve along with conditioning. Will work to get it down to 2 minutes next time.
What would you do differently?:

be a little less deliberate
Bike
  • 53m 2s
  • 17 miles
  • 19.23 mile/hr
Comments:

Still working on maintaining a higher cadence to save my legs for run. Used a couple of different peddle strokes to avoid completely fatigueing one muscle group.
What would you do differently?:

Try and ratchet it down a noth 1-2 miles from finish to get my legs ready for the run.
Transition 2
  • 02m 23s
What would you do differently?:

Go faster
Run
  • 32m 28s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Based on my inexperience with run training I was pretty pleased just to make it through. Drove the run course the night before and was dreading it. I knew it was going to be tough.
What would you do differently?:

More hill training. Probably should have walked up the hills and sprinted down. Could have shaved some time that way for sure.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still getting my feet under me on the run. Very hilly course. Loved the bike course and probably pushed a little hard based on my current conditioning level. Need to incorporate more bricks into training.

Event comments:

This was a great race. Very difficult by my standards but incredibly well run.
