So I was going on my Sunday morning 40k starting north on US-1 towards Cocoa.  Finished the first half of the ride and hit back South US-1.

Got a mile before I hit some glass shards and popped my back tube.  No big deal, pulled out one of my two spare tubes and got it fixed.  2 miles later, same deal- back tire, MORE GLASS.  Used my last spare tube, got it fixed, back on the road.  Well... you guessed it; got about half way back and POP- front tire deflates.  Took the tube off while I waited for my ride home and found yet another piece of glass in the tire.

Until I see some improvement in the bike lane there, I would suggest staying off the West bike late of US-1.  East side I've never had problems with, but this morning's nightmare will keep me away from US-1 for a while.

Do you think it was partly due to the storm or do you think someone did it maliciously?

Not too sure, but I doubt anyone would ever purposefully drop glass shards on the side of a road "hoping" that someday someone might pop a tire (or three in my case).

I'm guessing that it was a mixture of the rain + multiple accidents recently that were poorly cleaned up.

You have a better description of where exactly?  I'm sure I'll be US1 southbound at least between Rockledge Dr and Veira Blvd, or further south over the next few weeks.

Bummer when this happens.  It's been a long while since I've had any issues (knocking on wood!)

Yup... happened twice between 502 (Barnes Blvd) and Viera Blvd. The third happened just north of that Landscaping Depot on the right. That's where I stopped to borrow a phone because I was out of spares...

I'm currently mapping out a few new routes that'll just take me over Pineda to A1A North and then back south again.  I guess US1 was telling me I needed to start working on my causeway hills soon

That map looks veeeeery familiar

Edit: Donto, I read your race log from last years Health First Tri.  Were the water markers/buoys THAT bad?

Well last year was unique in that we had 20+MPH winds from the ESE, nice 1-2 foot waves and they had a hard time with at least one of the buoys staying put and pulled it at the start of the swim.  With those waves it's hard to see anything but big horizon details.  I and others complained in 06 about the buoys, not enough of them.  The Space Coast Tri club has new leadership this year and from what I heard the priority is to have more buoy markers this year for the swim.
