no weigh in this week for me - by the time I got to the gym it was too late and I had already eaten and stuff

I hate weighing myself at a different time of day and under different circumstances - plus they moved the scale to a public area so everyone shares - (it used to be in the locker room)

talk about uncomfortable!

September 5th is my last day...i'll still be involved, but i don't have to be there everyday.  Just in time for school starting...move the stressors from one area to another...But these are chosen stressors, at least.

On the plus side, a negative experience yesterday has furthered my resolve.  I've actually tracked for 2 days now...and I'm going out to dinner with a friend tonight and I picked Applebees because they have the WW menu.

sounds like the end is in sight!  and somehow chosen stressors tend to be easier to deal with

I like the Applebees WW menu, most of the items are quite good

ps

a gain of .6 isn't much in the grand scheme of things - it could have been much much worse - you'll get there!

FINALLY, yes...

I'm so used to the .6 gains, I don't even bat an eye.  There was another experience in dealing with someone of the opposing gender...nothing hateful, but just a reminder that a good chunk (heh....pun intended) of the reason that I don't get asked out/don't get dates is because I'm overweight.  It was the straw, I was the camel, and I'm now sitting in a back brace waiting to heal.  My youtube updates were rather pathetic...go ahead and take a look if you have a moment.

Today is better...and like I've said, I've actually tracked these past 2 days.  I generally do pretty well when I do that...here's hoping.

Thanks, Beth.  Still have to work on my RR today.  I was psyched to get 7th in the Athena Division.  It's such a big race, so I was very happy.  There were 64 Athenas registered before the race, but I'm not sure how many actually raced.

On Friday, I was down 0.6 from my last WI two weeks ago.  Last week, I stayed away from the scale because I knew it was going to be ugly.  A few days of water drinking and getting back into good habits paid off.  After doing this WW stuff for 16 months, I think I finally realize how my body reacts to certain things.  Fried foods send my system into catatonic shock now, which is funny because I used to live on that stuff.

Peggy, glad that you can see some light at the end of the tunnel.  I hope your stress gets better.  The person that was my work stressor just got moved to another floor last week, so I'm grinning like mad today.

Have a great week, everyone!

Laurie

Well, I didn't lose this week. I'm not sure why, exactly, but I think I have a good idea.

I've been doing A LOT of research on RMR/BMR, and on how many calories I should be eating versus how many I'm burning. I was shocked to find out that I am burning almost 50% more calories than I am eating. At first I thought that seemed kind of high, but I calculate my RMR with every online calculator and formula that I could find and they all told me pretty much the same thing. And I know, you guys told me that I was starving myself - but it was hard to grasp since I never felt like I was starving.

So I've started tracking my meals and workouts on Fitday.com to see where my calories are coming from - mostly FAT and CARBS! What this boils down to is that I am now on the road to Protein City, and eating six meals a day on the way there. I'm not a big meat eater, so we'll see what happens. Does anyone around here use protein powder?

Oh, and my scale is still going strong. It's definitely a keeper (even though it told me I didn't lose this week!).

I'm in a bad head space this week. I'm trying not to let things get to me, on the one hand I was away last week with work, travelled straight after my first week and really was shattered. On the other hand it all went to pot as far as the diet went and I had hardly any time to exercise. I think I'm falling into the trap of all or nothing again. I keep being tempted to just pig out. I'm still counting the points and today have even been able to bank some but it's almost as if I'm getting scared that I'll undo all the good work and go right back to being fat. I know it's not logical but it's so the way I feel. Any ideas on how to get round this?

Laurie - that is so cool that you got 7th!  I'm pretty sure that all 64 raced   Good call on staying away from the scale

Cassi - RMR/BMR - you'll have to share more - every time I start looking at that kind of stuff my eyes glaze over and I throw up my hands, it just seems so complicated

Kate - ugh - I know exactly how you feel and I'm sure many others do as well.  It's so hard to not take the all or nothing route under the circumstances you are under.  I don't have any magic tricks or words of advice other than to remember how far you've come!  You can do it!  As my grandmother used to say ' this too shall pass'

I drink a protein drink every morning before heading off to boot camp...Personally I like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey protein...chocolate malt is my favorite flavor.  Mix it up with some milk in the AM...yu-mmy.  I also like their tropical punch flavor, but I just mix that with water (pink color tropical punch tasting milk...no way

Hello all:

I am just getting back to Tri & BT.  I am also on a weight loss journey. I am totally interested in joining this group - sharing, supporting & celebrating along the way.  I love your chart and find "hard data" to be motivating.

I have done WW in the past but am currently following the Diet Center program.  I have lost 13 pounds and 17 inches off my body since mid-July (and about 3-4% body fat).  I very very VERY excited about this success and cannot wait to be the athlete my heart says I can be (but that my body has resisted).  I still have about 56 lbs. to get to my first goal of 140.  So, there's still a bit of a row to hoe.  But if all goes as planned....I can be at my goal by the end of the year or early '09.

I am just now building my base for Tri.  I did my first tri in June '06 (a gift to me for turning 40).  It was a BLAST- but a running injury put me out of running for a while.....and well....then life happened and 25 lbs. later........hopelessness set in.  BUT BUT BUT...the fog has lifted and well- here I am !!!  Ready to get back in the game.

Kylie that's great about your vacation.

I'm back on the road and in the pool tonight. DH had a tri this past weekend that was really fun to watch and I ran into an *old* friend who it was great to watch come out of the water...she's such an inspiration

eeek - weigh in tomorrow, the plan shows that I'm -5 points on the plan but I don't think I'll have go away with last week. I've decided to try hard not to beat myself up about it and focus on all the positives that I managed to achieve, delaing with the new job, dealing with the travelling, exercising when I could and getting back to it for a few days before getting weighed. What ever the outcome it'll be good to get it all out of my system, draw a line and move on.
