Run
Comments: I started out in the middle and had plans to just run, not race. Then I noticed that it was a pretty slow field and I had a chance to be competitive. At that point, my race strategy changed. I started picking off people around the half mile point. I found some good music on the mp3 (no flaming, please), and got to work. Since there were no mile markers, I could only estimate my pace. HR was pretty high, so I figured I was going hard enough. I kept passing people and only 2 guys passed me. The second mile was kind of rough, but no gut issues thankfully. As I turned for the finish, I kicked it in even more to keep ahead of a girl that was gaining on me. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. It worked out, even with making it up on the fly. Post race
Warm down: As I finished, my HR was sky-high. I had to walk it out a bit and then found some water. Jeremy was there and had already cooled off since he is so freakin' fast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just my inherent slowness. Event comments: For a tiny local race, they do a nice job. Well organized and on time. And a nice shirt. The usual- Not much. Woke up too late. Drank coffee and ate a banana. I was pretty casual since it was just a 5k and I had no plans to actually race.
The usual- Not much. Jogged about a block.
