Patriot Sprint 2008 (Duathlon) - Duathlon

View Member's Race Log
Williamsburg, Virginia
United States
Setup Events
Total Time = 1h 31m 39s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = W 25-29
Age Group Rank = 16/31
Pre-race routine:

Hung out with the other CATs, set up stuff and discussed where the race might be starting because no one knew :-p
Run
  • 14m 15s
  • 1.25 miles
  • 11m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

Would have liked to be a bit faster, but considering that it was unexpected, not much I could do about it. Tried to take it kind of easy because of the ankle and just use it as a warmup
What would you do differently?:

Not be injured :-p
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Ended up having to run the entire length of transition with my bike, and then couldn't get clipped into my pedals
What would you do differently?:

Practice to be able to do a flying mount so I don't have to run in my shoes :-p
Bike
  • 42m 5s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 17.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a great bike leg, especially considering that I hadn't been riding much lately. Felt really comfortable, and really enjoyed being on the new bike
What would you do differently?:

Nothing :-)
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

3rd in the AG - so this was a pretty good transition. I chickened out and didn't do the flying dismount, and I could have. But I wanted to play it safe.
What would you do differently?:

Do the flying dismount and not chicken out :-p Also, rack the bike by the seat, so I don't have to turn it around
Run
  • 32m 45s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good, considering that I still wasn't running the whole way. Walked for 1" at the beginning of the run, 1" at the 1 mile mark, 30" at the turn-around, 1" at the 2-mile mark and then 30" at about the half-mile to go mark.

I would have liked to run faster and walked less, but considering training volume and all the injuries it was still a success, I think.

I really wanted to break 1:30, and came really close, but ultimately had to make a decision to favor the ankle over breaking my PB
What would you do differently?:

Not be injured...
