Subject: No Meltdowns, Just Meltoffs (updated 9/10/08: A New Challenge Has Begun)

Hey Everyone--

I have started the new thread. There seems to be some confusion about when the weigh in day is . . . it's not THIS Wednesday, but the next . . . so the 24? Right. Keep that in mind when you're setting your goals, etc.

I need  to confess something . . . I gained TWO pounds over the weekend. Well, no JUST yesterday. I didn't eat right at all . . . PLEASE, PLEASE keep me accountable. I know it's probably unfair to call on you guys . . . but I REALLY need to lose this weight and I need to eat healthily--for health reasons--and, well, because I also want to look good.

Any tips? Words of encouragement? ANYTHING????

Thanks,

Elishia

Elishia, I haven't been a part of your challenge group. I hang out on the "I See Chocolate" thread. Anyway, I lost weight many years ago and I have continued to lose a bit and seek top fitness over the years. (More stuff about my background on that thread). Right now it's all about maintenance.

I am telling you this because I have been where you are. A big part of my coming to terms with my weight(loss) and developing a healthy relationship with food came into play when I started to identify what my eating poorly "triggers" were. How was this wkend different from the ones where you ate nutritiously in the right amounts and felt great? Feel free to PM me if you want to say more than you want to post here.
You certainly have taken a step in the right direction with seeking out accoutability. You have what it takes to get it done, you just have to trust yourself and stay in touch with that healthy fit person. Let fitness (not crappy food) be your drug of choice...

Yay...our new thread

Well, my tri was cancelled for Sunday due to Ike.  The weather actually was beautiful, they just couldn't predict when the really bad weather was going to hit.   I'm very bumbed about it.  It was going to be my husband's first tri, too.  I know he wasn't looking forward to the swim, but he would have kicked booty on the bike and run.  They say they are going to try to re-schedule, but I don't have my hopes up.

As far as weightloss, I'm down .5 lbs, so still hoping for 2.5 more before weigh-in day.

Lastly, I just printed off my running schedule for my first half mary in March '09...excited about that.

It was most likely water weight from extra sodium intake. there is no way you ate the 7000 extra calories you need to eat to gain 2 pounds in two days. (well I guess it's possible but I read you log and you didn't) Just watch the trend and keep an eye on the sodium. I had the same issue last Friday when I went to a party. Go by how you feel and how your clothes fit and you will be a lot happier.

Tri-Jean,

Are you weighing in every day?  Try weighing in only once a week that way you are not seeing the "ebbs and flows" of your weight.  I agree with the sodium comment and as much as I hate to say it - just being a young woman with a full supply of hormones going can cause daily fluctuation in weight.  If you had a bad weekend with the eating, chalk it up to a "slip" and move on (at least that is what I am trying to do!).

I am really enjoying this group.  It helps me stay accountable also!

Fatdogg (not forever though).

Trijean- so you had a bad weekend. It already got you, don't let it keep affecting you. It is in the past, the best thing you can do is move on and learn from it.

Today is a new day, a new chance to start good habits. We all have trouble, but don't let it derail you.

Hey Guys--

Thanks for the encouragement. You're right . . . it's not a "mess up" that is a problem, it's a string of mess ups that is never stopped. Well, I am stopping it! I have been eating really well today. Woohoo!!!! I am having a hard time making my swim work outs long enough . . . I get bored.

How is everyone else doing?

When I swim I try to focus on technique... or whatever I am going to eat later... Try singing songs in your head. Pool swimming is hard, but you get used to it.

Thanks for starting the new thread Elishia. Remember One Swallow does not a summer maketh! Don't sweat the scales right now. I would recommend that weekly weigh-ins are as frequent as you need to be. In the past I have become a lsave to the scale and daily flucuations would really damage my self-esteem if things went awry.

I know weigh-in is Wednesday next week, but I would like to be accountable weekly so I will be posting my results this Wednesday as well. Hope you all don't mind.

I had a terrible weekend!! I am up a few lbs. I know the problem, just can't get it under control. I spent the last year training for IM, and never did get my eating under control, so I didn't run at my goal weight. Now that IM is done, I haven't been working out much, and have been eating the same out of control way- and now my work pants are close to not fitting! I have to get this under control now!
Tonight I am hitting the TM. I had a stress fx after IM so my running over the summer has been zilch. Now that seems to better, but I got a cold I couldn't get rid of so I have been resting the last couple weeks. Feeling better today, so off to the TM I go!

I recommitted to following my nutrition plan 100% last week, and things have been going really well for me. But then that self-doubt is creeping in, and I find myself battling thoughts like, "you can't really do this" and "you're bound to mess up sooner or later" and "you're going to gain it all back."

I've lost about 10 pounds since I came back to BT in August and I've finally lost the weight I had regained since January. Plus, I'm almost in ONDERLAND! I was in January, but then started eating a lot of junk food and just steadily gained over the months.

I like to weigh in weekly myself.  I have to keep a pretty close eye on it, b/c I can jump up 5 or 6 lbs in 2 weeks.   So....I'll be weighing in tomorrow morning.

Also, my husband is looking at a new bike tonight...it's between a pinerello and a felt.  The good news, I get his american classic wheels for now.  The great news...when he gets a new bike, the door is totally open for me to finally get a carbon bike.  I love my specialized dolce, but I'm ready to move on up

My weekend was OK but I had a bad Monday. Instead of working out I ate chips, ice cream and hot dogs. I know I am supposed to use exercise as my drug of choice and not food but I slipped.

Oh well, today is a new day and the slate is clean. In fact I am heading to the gym for lunch. Yeah!!!

Have a great week!

Yes it is a new day, so you can reload and go again. Hope the gym session is a good one for you.

I am weighing-in today. I am officially at 292, which is down the planned 2 lbs from last week. I am very happy as my strategy is working and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I intend to stick to it! Goal weight for next Wednesday 290lb. I will be on vacation for a week next week so I may or may not get to post my results but I will be working out. Good luck to all.

Today I was 204, which was up from last wed, but a loss from my weekend gain- so I am still hopeful to meet my under 200 next wed!

My TM run last night was inspiring! Felt good to run after work again. Not good enough to repeat tonight!! Instead I did a few weights with my son.

I had a good day today... I was lite on the calories today... but had a GREAT bike run brick. Chicken soup for dinner so I will probably be retaining a bit of watter in the AM when I weigh in. I know everyone says o poor you under your calorie goal but under is as bad as over. I really need to be right in my 1800 to 2000 calorie window to have enough to gain fitness but still loose weight. Everyting I had was good stuff though so I don't feel to bad. tomorrow is a swim and a run.

I'm swimming and running today, too! Good job on your food goal. Well, I did my weekly Wednesday weigh in and (drumroll) I am around 194! My digital scale is a bit questionable sometimes, so once is said 193, once it said 194.8, and then it settled on 194 . . . so I'm going with it. This is three pounds below what I was Sunday . . . and about a pound below what I was last Wednesday. Things are looking up! I have been controlling my blood sugar with my diet . . . and not doing weights. ALSO, Sunday was a rest day and I have read that your body retains more water on rest days . . . something with the muscles.

AND, just a few minutes ago, I turned down a gigantic craving for a fudge round and turned to my sugar free chocolate pudding--what a lifesaver!

I look forward to seeing how you guys are doing!

Awesome job on rejecting the fudge round!!!   I get my chocolate fix in the a.m. with instant breakfast.  I love the stuff and it is chock full of vitamins and stuff.  I had a great run last night.  I ran just under an 11 minute mile which is my fastest time ever!!!  Something is up with the log, when I hit save, it changes my time.  But, I did 2 miles in 21.64 minutes.  Hope to eat well today.  Weight this morning was 165 which is down a pound from last Wed., so I'm happy with that  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Keep up the good work!
