Pre-race routine:

I was able to see some of the course the day before since my son did the kid's triathlon. I think this made me more nervous for the swim! I did have a gu gel before the race.

I am no good at the swim porton. I needed more practice and confidence. Since the swim ended up being longer than expected, I actually did okay time wise when comparing to my first tri a month ago.
What would you do differently?:

Practice, paractice, practice!

I had a hard time with my wetsuit again. I maybe need more bodyglide or much more practice. I thought I had it down on my pre-race practices, but not yet.
What would you do differently?:

Try to run faster from the swim to T1, get the wetsuit off quicker.

I went as fast as I was able. I do need more training rides with more distance. I really rode only a few times prior to this race. I did a gel on the bike about mile 9 and also had water. I should have had the gel earlier or none at all as I felt sick to my stomache.
What would you do differently?:

Not have a gel on the bike. I felt like I had to throw up!

Not have a gel on my bike. Try to do gatorade or some other drink instead.

I felt pretty crappy but only walked at the water stations. I was able to run at my regular pace (which is SLOW!)so I wasn't too disappointed.
What would you do differently?:

Again, that darn gel! I also need to learn to drink while running. I always choke on the water and end up walking.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training at all. I had two kids home and they weren't interested in going out with Mom, so my training suufered once their summer vacation began.

Event comments:

I was disappointed in the distances for the swim and the bike. Since this was only my second race, I didn't expect that. I also wish the race director would have let the participants know - I had to email them to confirm the distances. Otherwise, it was a good course for my ability and I was pleased with my BOP finish! I also liked the beer at the end!
