Total Time = 1h 48m 33s
Overall Rank = 64/206
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 5/14
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast and hydrated started at 3:30 for 6:30 start. One gel 15 before start.
Event warmup:

None. Event was 45 minutes late, so much for pre-race routine. Tried to stay warm. Water temperature was warmer than air temp.
Swim
  • 11m 15s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Larger waves than usual. But since I live near the beach, no big deal. I think our wave (3) actually had a break and started between wave sets. I was surprised when I realised I was outside the waves and heading to the bouy.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

Since I'm one of those who wears socks I put them on in T1. Tried to stand, but once one bike shoe was on kept falling over before I could get the other sock on. Sat down and got it done.
What would you do differently?:

Practice standing while puting socks and shoes on. Try to elimnate socks. Try no socks and bike shoes already clipped in for future.
Bike
  • 51m 24s
  • 17 miles
  • 19.84 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Bike felt good. Some short course riders passed me, but not too many.
Transition 2
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

Fumbled with the race belt! Upside down/backwards, WTF! Everything was good.
What would you do differently?:

Layout race belt better.
Run
  • 40m 52s
  • 5 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Last race I over did the bike and crashed on the run. Kept the bike within limits this time and run was much better.
What would you do differently?:

Noticed many who finished better had better run pace. Need to work on that. Need to incorporate tempo runs and stay out of grey zone.
Post race
Warm down:

Helped clean up. Lots of trash and left behind equipment.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not good running program which is ironic since I cam from a running background!

Event comments:

Good race since all tourists are gone. Less traffic on roads and boardwalk.
