Pre-race routine:

Had multigrain waffles w/ peanut butter and jam + milk, drank about 1/2 quart of water, all about 1:45 before the race.
Event warmup:

Was running a little late, but I took a couple of strides and did as much stretching as I could. For some reason I was having cramps in my lower right back when I got out of the shower. Could have just been stress, but I was able to run through it.

Comments:

This was only my second 5k--my first was a year ago. After all of the training I've been doing, I was able to set a realistic goal and beat it. I simply wanted to beat 45 minutes without too much of an elevated HR. My HR was higher than I expected at this pace, but I suppose I should have expected that in racing conditions. Hopefully I'll be able to do even better next month at the Carlsbad 5000.
