Can someone who has skiied here tell me what they thought of it?  We normally go to Breckenridge, but since there is only go to be 4 of us going this year, we thought we may try somewhere new.

What's the town like?  Places to shop and eat specifically.  I ask, b/c that is a plus for Breckenridge for the wives.

go to utah.  brighton, solitude, snowbird...you won't regret it.  best, fluffiest snow in the world.  and brighton/solitude are where all the locals go, price of a lift ticket is reasonable and the conditions are stellar.  granted, i've never been to big sky, but i've ridden a few other locales (colorado, tahoe, chile), i never want to go anywhere else but utah.  call me crazy.

I've never skiied there because I just can't cough up the cash when there are other places the same distance from me that are half the price and sweet skiing. The report from my husband, however, is that it's great skiing but he felt like it would be way better if he was skiing with someone who knew the mountain. There's just so much terrain that he felt he needed a little extra guidance to find the really good stuff. He's a pretty high-level skier, though, so that may or may not apply to you all. Bridger Bowl is near Bozeman as well, so if you're taking a longer trip, add a day in there. I can attest to the general awesomeness of that mountain.

I have only been up to Big Sky once. The village is smaller than Breck for sure, but does have way more of the feel of a CO resort than anywhere else in MT (ie, more commercial, more boutiques and restaurants that don't feature animal heads that haven't been dusted since the 70's and stuff). Bozeman itself has some of the best shopping in MT (which ain't saying much, I know, but they are head and shoulders above everyone else).

Went there last year. The skiing is pretty nice with something for everyone. Not a lot of people on the runs. Little or no wait on the lifts. Moonlight Basin is next store, so you can ski there as well. They have a nice spa.

Other than the ski resorts, there isn't much. Shopping is a couple gift stores and ski shops. Restaurants pretty much just what they have on mountain.

It was fun, but I think there are better options.
