Subject: Dallas Cyclists - Map your Routes OpenStreetMap invites cyclists to map Dallas! Greetings Dallas Cyclists! Here's an event you might want to attend. OpenStreetMap, a wikipedia-like site for maps, has an ambitious goal - to map the whole world. This weekend, they will be mapping Dallas. Participants collect information to put on the map (cycle / hiking trails, natural features, historic plaques, museums, other points of interest). They then upload the information to the online map, where the data can be enhanced and corrected by the online community. Cyclists have played an important role in OpenStreetMap - we have intimate knowledge of the streetscape, including of course bike lanes and paths. There is even a unique cyclemap tool on the website.
