Subject: "Ride your city" challenge

While exploring some different neighborhood roads yesterday, I came up with the possiblity of a challenge for riding all the bicycle legal streets in the city/suburb.  I took a combination of Google Maps and Garmin Navigator and made a large image file.   I filled in the normal route and alternatives that I've been riding for the past months.   Now, I'm going to start detouring from the normal route each ride and work to transit every single street in the area.   As my training rides get longer I'll work to expand the radius of the mapped/completed area.   Keeps the rides interesting, and I've already found unqiue houses and locations.  Yesterday I rode by a house that had a long trailer with Tri-sports logos all over it.  No idea if they are a sponsored athlete, or some other relation.  Will stop by someday and ask.  The hardest part of the challenge in Vegas is getting into all the gated neighborhoods.  Most of them you can just time it when someone's leaving or entering, but a few a guard manned.

Anyway, if anyone's interested inject your thoughts and comments.

I like this idea and love exploring, but can't do this til next spring.  I'll be limited to paved trails  and the trainer this winter to avoid ice and sand.
