I'm finally back after the holidays and went and got myself a new pair of shoes today. I am starting to looking into swimming programs and just signed up for my gym's Biggest Loser Contest. Figured it was a good way to be accountable over the next couple of months. I am trying to figure out this site and the logs and such. Hopefully you can see my log, but if not, let me know.

I have not figured out what race I am going to do this summer. Have you set up what race you want to do next year? Are you looking at doing a long race in summer?
Is that a bike or a run?
Wow. I guess thats what you call an ultramarathon? My hat goes off to you. Thats amazing. I don't think I'd be going much above 12.30 myself!!!

Hi Amy! Yes I can see your logs, I left you an "inspire" yesterday, you'll notice its gone red? If you click on it you'll see my message I love women's tris. We have an annual one here and the atmosphere is fantastic, everyone is usually super supportive. Are there any official training programs associated with yours? I did one last year and it was a big help. It usually includes coaching in all 3 disciplines, it would solve your swim problem New shoes and Biggest Loser! Sounds like a great way to stay accountable

Extreme Veteran 458 Montreal | Subject: RE: Eurydice79 (Magda's) Group - FULL So does anyone have any good website links that list all the upcoming triathlons, searchable by region? I'm having trouble finding ones nearby that are the distances I want to complete!
Keep training everybody! My goal this week is to get myself accustomed to running with a bag on my back (it's a proper backpack), because once university recommences next week, I'll be running to school 2x a week. Does anyone have any experience/tips running with anything on their back? |

Most states in Australia have their own triathlon organisation that coordinates everything, provides licenses etc. My state's organisation (Triathlon Western Australia) puts out a season calendar each year which I look at and pick what I want to do. Do you have a similar organisation where you are???

Master 1548 Perth, Australia | Subject: RE: Eurydice79 (Magda's) Group - FULL So, its New Years Eve. How is everyone going? What are your plans for the new year? Any New Years resolutions? (apart from lots of training of course!!!) My resolution is to stick with my Half Ironman training program and complete the race, which will be in just over 4 months. On a non-triathlon side (yes it does exist!) I'm planning to finish renovating the house and maybe think about starting a family later in the year. Yes that will bring a whole new set of challenges!!!

Master 1548 Perth, Australia | Subject: RE: Eurydice79 (Magda's) Group - OPEN SweetJLee - 2008-12-21 7:52 AM HI! Can I join your group too? I could sure use some support and insight. I set finishing a sprint triathlon as a goal for 2009. Triathlon appealed to me for the variety of training. I want a plan to get back in shape now that I'm done having kids (I have two - ages 6 and 3). My current exercise regimen is sporadic at best! The bummer is that I don't know a single person who does triathlon and can't talk a single one of my friends into trying one with me! So I'm truly flying solo here! I'd love to have a mentor in the sport. Anyway, I'm 36, married, mother of two. I'm an optometrist working full time (four 10-hour days). I have some weight to lose in the process too... 25 pounds or so. Looking forward to this!! Jennifer
Hi Jennifer! I hope you're going OK, I haven't heard much from you since you joined and I can't see your logs either! Keep us updated

Master 1548 Perth, Australia | Subject: RE: Eurydice79 (Magda's) Group - OPEN madagaska - 2008-12-21 10:12 AM Hi Magda,
My name is Madeleine and I am in Melbourne - gotta say that it is nice to see some Aussies here! I would love to have a go at being in your group. The reason I have decided to start tri training is that I have finally quit smoking cigarettes and really want to have a go at seeing what my body can actually do when I am not actively killing it!!!! I have been doing some basic training in running and swimming (no where near enough) and have just started cycling to work. So I am a total novice. We have a work team that is going to register for the BRW Corporate Tri here in Melbourne and I would love to be in good shape for that. I would also like to to a beginner tri sometime in February ideally. I guess it is time to simply start logging what I do in terms of dedicated tri training and go from there??? Thanks,
Madeleine
Madeleine! Hi! I haven't heard much from you either, hows things?

Extreme Veteran 458 Montreal | Subject: RE: Eurydice79 (Magda's) Group - FULL This might be obvious, but I totally did not realize just how SLOW running is in icy, cold, snowy weather. In the last few weeks, having actually recorded my time and kms run, I am consistently shocked at how high the xx min/km rate is. Oh well, at least I am getting out there, right? As for the bike I ride... sigh... I'm in the process of transitioning from a hybrid (!!) to a road bike. Isn't that sad? Yes, ladies and gents, I rode on a *hybrid* when I did my first triathlon. Apparently that's taboo among the elite triathletes, because I got many many MANY dirty looks and jaw-drops! I'm getting a proper road bike this spring. Are there any recommendations you can make? I really no VERY little about bikes (uhm... they have wheels...), I just ride them! I'm looking for a road bike that is for a female frame. Keep on training, guys! I know I'm excited for my public pool to reopen after its holiday schedule! |

Extreme Veteran 603 Glasgow, UK | Subject: RE: Eurydice79 (Magda's) Group - FULL Hi all, sorry I've been away for a while. I was on holiday with my Brother and his GF and although we are staying at our house I was pre-occupied with spending time on them. Happy New Year. My resolutions are to plan more, stick to my training plans and concentrate on my running and core. In terms of questions - does anyone know a good way of speeding up my running? I train with a couple of friends and they're both faster than me and I'd love to be able to be faster but at present feel like I'm going as fas as I can maintain. Failing that have you any ideas for training with other people that are faster so you all get a work out? |
