Finally! I'm able to bike again. I did a 90 minute interval spin class, with no pain to the quad! The weather here sucks today and tomorrow (rain and snow) so maybe I'll try to run a little bit as well as do the spin class.

Started my biking regiment along with my running that have been doing. running up to 10+ miles around a 7:40 to 8min pace. Biking I have been putting on around 15.3 miles Pace varies depending on weather (wind).

I am running into a problem with a sore calf which is the leg I had a vein removed. I started wrapping it to hopefully elleviate some of the pain. I am also replacing my shoes from cushioned to  a more stability type shoe.

any other ideas?

Sounds like you're building up pretty well. I would try running with Compression socks then post run and when you sleep you can rock some compression sleeves which might to the trick as it helps increase blood flow.

The new shoes are helping. What do you mean by Rock some compression sleeves.

haha sorry a bit of lingo... I mean you should wear compression socks when you run or just wear compression sleeves when you're recovering/sleeping...

Compression Socks
vs
Compression Sleeve

I wear the sleeves to bed most nights and the socks on random occassions... still not really sold they do much during activity but they are great for recovery.

Hi! Do you have room for one more? I have an Aussie accent if that helps - now living in Toronto, Canada.

Planning on a mid-August Tri. It will be my first. Thinking of doing a Try-A-Tri in June as a warm up.

Back in Australia I was an Exercise Physiologist and as an ex-competitive swimmer spent a lot of time helping Triathletes with their swimming stroke. And even worked ITU as a Assistant Medical Director.

My other sports history was as a dedicated rower in Australia. Used to get up at 4:30am and row for two hours 6 or 7 days a week. Loved it. Miss it.

So, why no triathlons for me before now? I was not a runner. Until a few years ago. Once I got over the fact that running wasn't in the pool and you actually had to stand up to do it - I'm excited to give Tri's a go.

I'm a single mom with 2 kids so I get out at 6am to do my training. DOn't worry, the kids are alone - I have a nanny. I now work in advertising as a medical writer so find the mornings are the best - the only person responsible for my training not happening is me.

I'm training 6 days a week - but have yet to replace spinning with bike time. As I have to get bike shoes (I'm using the ex-husbands bike). But plan to do that soon and would welcome any advice on what to get.

Other vitals - 38yrs, 6ft, blonde, looking to loose another 10 pounds (my youngest is 16 mths and the only one of us with baby fat appears to be me).

So Shanks, what do you say?

Thanks for thinking about it,
Fi
