St. Paddy's Dash 5K (Seattle) - Run

Run
Comments: The Dash Started at the Seattle Center (home of the Space Needle) and ended at Safeco Field (home of the Seattle Mariners). The course followed paved roads on the Alaskan Way Viaduct, which overlooks Elliot Bay. It was mostly flat with some gentle rises and a gentle down hill near the finish line. The miles were not marked (or I missed the signs) until mile 3. What would you do differently?: For this first run of the season, I am satisfied. I wanted to run negative splits, but without seeing the mile markers I am not sure if I did. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, had some water, visited the different booths. What limited your ability to perform faster: You don't want to know. Event comments: Positives: Fun, festive atmosphere; weather was incredible; great to spend time with my friend. Critique: The water area at the finish was too small for the size of the race. I missed not having fruit available at the finish. Last updated: 2005-03-07 12:00 AM

I got up and showered, had a cup of coffee, half of a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter, and water, then headed to Seattle. Met up with my friend Vinette at my office then hooked up with our shuttle to the start of the race. Our shuttle was a squad car! I got lots of funny looks because I was in the back seat.
Walked around to keep warm (it was gorgeous sunny, but a wee chilly)then stretched. It was fun to see the crazy costumes some folks were wearing. There were tons of people 11,750!
