Pre-race routine:

Drove fast to the race, stopping once at Panera for coffee (thanks girls!!). Stood in line waiting for the bathroom...ended up going poopies in the boys bathroom, ran to the start as it was starting.

Comments:

I was sick going into this and when I arrived at the race it was 48 degrees. I was cold and tired and felt like leaving. Signed in, got my number and the sun started to come up, so I decided I'd go ahead. This was just a training run, but I was hoping it wouldn't make me sicker. I just took it "easy", though my heart rate said otherwise!! I ended up running with a small pack, and after a bit ended up with Roderick. Roderick had no arms. No kidding. And he kicked butt! I was so freaking impressed at how strong he must have been to run that course without arms! We talked a lot and I felt very fortunate to have hooked up with him. I was afraid if he fell it'd be ugly, but he said he has perfected the tuck and roll. He did fall once, but not on his face, and picked himself back up. He told me to go on, but I was in no hurry. This was a tougher course than the one I did 2 weeks before, but under normal circumstances I think I could have done closer to a 2:05. We'll see next year! IN any case, I'm glad I met Roderick and had a really nice morning running in the woods.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

stretched a bit and chilled with some friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

being sick - congested lungs!!

Event comments:

Loved the course and the atmosphere at this race. Will definitely put it on my list of to-do's for next year!!! Heather Gollnick won the woman's race...too bad I didn't get to see her :(

Congratulations on another great run! Nice work on going out there when not feeling 100%.

Sounds like you had an inspirational encounter on the trail.

Congrats on toughing through and DOING IT!  Putting toes on the line is the toughest part of the day  sometimes.  Well done...I'd like to do this one some day.
