Does anyone know what the best way to block the wind from getting your eyes all dried out when biking? I naturally have dry eyes and when I bike, they are pretty much stinging from the wind when I get back, even from a short ride. I just wear Oakley sunglasses but I'm sure there's something out there better at protecting the eyes.
Goggles seems like a bit much, but maybe that's what I need.

Any recommendations??

Thanks!
Kevin

Hmm... im not too sure what's available in america, but i use rudy projects. they do a really good job as they seem to shield my eyes alot better than what my oakleys do, but it will probably come down to personal choice

I have a pair of bolle's that work really well. got them off of www.campmor.com for a really good price. the sit very snug on my face and block almost all the wind. Jack.

Goggles may seem a bit much but if they do the trick, why not?!? I use my Uvex ski goggles when it is cold out...freezing...and I don't want my eyes to feel they've been sandpapered. There is, of course, a dirth of wraparound sunglasses out there. You just have to keep trying different kinds see which pair best suits you.

yep, plenty of glasses to chose from.  I've tried a pair of Bolle's, Rudy Project, and finally settled on Smith Sliders.  They have the most lense options and are the easiest to change.  I ihad trouble changing the lenses in the Rudy's and was not impressed with the clarity of the lenses.  The Smith's block more wind and have an incredible clarity to them.

Good info about the Rudy's -- I was considering a new pair of glasses and lusting after the Rudy!! 9the most expensive, so now I can get off thatobsession). My old Bolle have served me well, but are wearing out. I have the pair that has the prescription insert and love that option. So I am on the hunt for the right pair of new ones. Anyone have thoughts about the Rx inserts in different glasses?

I know nothing about optic inserts.  I opted for Lasik instead.  Wanna know anything about Lasik?  LOL  Going in for a touch up next Monday.  This is the best piece of tri equipment I have!

Love my Oakleys. Instead of Rx lenses I opted to do like Ellen. Although, I went w/ contacts instead. Still can't quite make the leap to LASIK.

I could never see well with contacts because of the astigmatism in both eyes.  Lasik took care of that and my nearsightedness.  I remember the first tri I did, got out of the water, could barely find my way to the bike, and almost knocked myself out when I tripped over tree roots that I never saw.  Made up my mind then to have it done.

Love my Oakelys, but several of my friends have gone to the local industrial sales outlet and picked up safety glasses that look like Oakleys but for about 1/10 the cost of Oakleys.  Could be an econmical option for some folks.

Thanks for all your great suggestions!
Oakleys are great for me for everyday use, but I think some of the recommendations here will work better for me.

Cheers,
Kevin

I have Oakleys with prescription inserts that are an integral part of the lens. I found an authorized Oakley dealer near me, from the Oakley website, I believe. You just make your order and give them your eye prescription, and they come back a few weeks later. I recall it being a little pricey, maybe about $400 for the Pro M Frame and two lenses, but I use them in every physical activity I undertake outdoors, from golf to lawnmowing to running to cycling to you name it.

Thanks Phil -- I will check out the Oakleys along with a few other brands I have seen advertised.
