Subject: Turn a 16 week training program into a 12 week one?

Okay, so I really meant to get started training last month, but I just moved halfway across the country and am finally settled in.  I am prepping for a May 10 sprint distance (it will be my second) and am comfortable with all the distances in the balanced 16 week sprint training program (on this site) , but I'm just wondering the best way to modify it since I've only got 12 weeks to go.   When I trained for the first one in the fall I just used a simple 12 week program (similar to the 13 week on this site) and I'm looking for something just a bit more aggressive (since I'm already comfortable with the distances).

I have been working out in the off season, so do I just start with Month 2 or is there a better way like doing weeks 1,3,5,7-15?

I would jump in so 12 weeks brings you to the race so basically you are skipping first 4 weeks. Be careful doing to much to soon so if a workout is to long or you don't feel ready for it cut it back. You'll get your groove back after a few weeks.

There are 12-week plans which are more aggressive, but you need to be a Silver member of the site for those.

Since you've already done a sprint, I would just pick it up at week 5.

Thanks for the advice; I'll go ahead and start at week 5 of the plan and just listen to my body.  Happy training and have a great season!
