This is my first season in triathlon, and I have chosen this race, one close to home, as the main focus of my season.  Really don't know what to expect but I am currently in training and feeling really good.

Has anyone done this race before, andwhat, if any, thought do you have on this race.

Welcome to Ohio Tri's

Haven't done this race but HFP does a good job of pulling together races. If you are still doing it, I would suggest you train until your taper and try to take your first race easy. Enjoy the event and don't get caught up in who has what gear or what time (this from a Middle of the Packer... and climbing).

Send me a PM if you want to chat about my experience with HFP racing.

Cheers,
Daryth

I have relatives that live nearby so I am debating whether or not to sign up for the sprint distance race.  This will be my first triathlon.  I am signed up for the huge one in Chicago at the end of August but I was thinking that this race would be much smaller and maybe more relaxed for my first one.

Be aware if you haven't done this one before, the olympic distance race has some tough hills after the sprint bike has its turn around.  The first half is a gradual incline the whole way, possible head winds, but then the oly is killed with hills.

good luck.

If you want flat, do Maumee Bay, not as much as an ant hill on that course.

Good luck everyone!  Is anyone else going to the dinner in the park on Sat night?
Any advice on the best place for spectators?  I am doing the sprint (my 1st tri).  My parents are coming up from Akron to watch the race but I am not sure where to tell them to go really.  I am semi-familiar with the area since I have a friend who has a cottage down the street.
I live in Chicago but will be driving to Vermilion on Fri night (late) and relaxing on Saturday...maybe will get a swim in in the lake too.

From what I know, all will have to park at a shopping center across the street and walk over to linwood park.  The park is probably the best, watch the swim and t1, go out the gate to see you come back to t2 then out on the run, go back in the park for the finish.

How did everyone enjoy the race?  Although it was hot and muggy, the water was perfectly calm!
