As I lay here recoving from my first try out at brick, I can still feel my legs begging me to stay put. I have not gathered enough distance on any of the disciplines but I figured let me give it a shot just to get the feel of it.

Pulled my left calf muscle but kept going (not finishing would have made me miserable). Not sure that was the smartest of moves (it wasn't), but it's done.

Brick, is an appropriate name for it. Just ranting and sharing for those that have yet to try it and some humor for those that are well experienced.

The good news is that the more you do, it the easier it gets.  Once I get closer to race season, I'll tack on a mile run to the end of as many rides as I have time for, in addition to scheduled full blown brick workouts.  Keep at it.

Nice job on your first brick. You might know this already, but if not, make sure you go slowwwwwww and short on your first runs, from start to finish. I'm talking a gentle jog here. All you're trying to do right now is introduce your legs to the concept of running after a bike ride. I might also suggest doing at least one brick per week. Nothing long or hard, just slow and easy, bu tthe more you do the easier they get and the stronger you'll become. Good luck.
