Only 3 more weeks left...hope everyone is getting ready.

I did this race last year, and if there is one thing I can say it's that spotting the first buoy can be tricky as you swim straight into the sun. Two easy solutions though:

1. Wear tinted goggles for sure.
2. Aim for the trees behind on the shore. You can spot them no problem.

Otherwise it's a super fast and flat course. It's shorter than a regular Olympic, so you'll get some fast splits.

Swim is great. Water tastes good. It's short and not too crowded.

Thanks for the tips, especially about the tinted googles. I need a pair of those, so I am glad I know now before it gets to the last minute. This will be the next step up for me from a sprint. I did my first two tris at the end of last season, both of them being sprints, so now this year I am stepping it up with a couple of Olys and my "A" race this year: The Vineman 70.3. I am already pumped up for that one and it is not even until July.

Thanks again.

Bummed.  I was waiting on this until I was sure I was fully recovered from my hip injury AND that I wouldn't need the weekend for a long run for LA Marathon training.  As of last night, I passed my personal tests for both...and now I see the race has sold out.

That sucks, sorry to hear that.  Seems surprising since we are in the middle of nowhere that this thing sells out and not even a wait list.

Oh, well...I've done the race before (2008)...was hoping to use it as a tuneup race before my IM on May 1 AND see some BTers as well...

I got an offer today for $124 per night at this place.  Not sure if is only applicable if you have stayed there.  But if anyone wants it I will forward the email.  This place is very nice.
