Pre-race routine:

Took it easy last night..
Okay.. Did not eat enough complex carbs the night before a race.

Event warmup:

No Warm Up

Bathroom - 4 times / last time was on the course (port-o-johns)...
I needed to go since the gun went off but the line was too long...

Comments:

I was not prepared for the run past 9 miles. I did not bring gue (shot)with me to give the boost I needed.

What would you do differently?:

have the proper nutrition - for the last quarter of the race. Again, I toughed it out for the last 4 miles with no energy left... I had salt crystals forming on my face...

Train on more hills instead of running around the lake..

This was the first time I have run over 9 miles in my life. I had just recently ran the 9miles but figured I needed to see if I could do it. I did and am happy about that for sure but saw alot of ways to improve myself. I am going to sign up for another one.

I will break the 2 hr barrier for the 1/2 Mary

The first 9 miles were about a 9:40 - 10min miles.. At mile 9 I needed some gu shot or something. I was not prepared and I paid for it dearly. I toughed it out the rest of the way and finished. miles 10- 13 is where I lost my energy.. HR was at 170+ the whole time. I could not get it down.
Course: The course was hilly and had lots of curves.. (uneven blacktop road)

Well done for toughing it out!
 
As hard as it was, it's good you're able to use this race as a learning experience and put the new knowledge towards the next half marathon.
