I stop by and talked to the park rangers. No idea of water temp but the race org will be setting up shop tomorrow morning.

The water should not be too cloudy as it hasn't rained in awhile, however, the rangers themselves described it as tannic - iced tea like = low visibility.

Good luck to ya'll!

I have run a Tri at Moss Park before, the visibility will be zero. Spray paint your goggles black and you will have a good simulation. Be sure to swim a little before the race to get used to the dark water, it freaked me out the race I did there.

I raced the Orlando Women's Tri at Moss Park last October and judging from the distances for the sprint, it sounds like the course will cover the exact same route that the women's tri did.

Some tips:
1. The lake water is dark. Leave the tinted goggles at home. I was in the first wave to go. We had a wading start (water up to knees); but the lake drops off pretty quickly. Should be wetsuit legal. I did not get bitten by anything. The swim course seemed short.

2. The bike is on decently traffic controlled roads through entirely residential areas. There were really only 2 straightaways and lots of turns with a couple of round-a-bout/culdusacs thrown in.

3. The run was almost entirely on trails. Honestly, I can't even remember there being any blacktop at all. It rained the day of my event, so everything was a wet, sloshy mess.

4. There were no port-a-lets at the event. Everyone had to use the campground bathrooms (all 6 stalls) or the woods.

5. Numbers were not assigned to bike racks. First come, first serve. Get there early to get those end spots.

Good luck to all! Happy racing!!!

Awesome!  Yes, let this be the first of many.  How was the water? temp/color?  How many people competed @ the event?  Good job and keep 'er up.

still glowing about this experience!  i saw that i finished 5th in my age group...  not bad considering i was chasing the wrong age group (didn't know how they take your age by how old you'll be on 31 Dec) the whole time.  It felt so much better than my first marathon.  The people, the staff, the athletes... everything was great!  everyone i met or saw they was so motivational....  the older athletes really impressed me.... shoot so did the little kids!  okay... now i'm just blabbing...  still glowing...

I had a good race (could have hammered it harder on the bike) but overall I was happy.  There was a bit of drafting going on but it was hard NOT to as the course was a bit tight.    They screwed up however and do not have ANY of the results for the Clydes listed on the results page

what's up dude?  I got 2:33 also.  I had a tough swim, when my wetsuit zipper came undone on the first leg.  I had to stop and ditch the suit.  Went super hard (for myself anyway) on the bike to make up for it and then of course the run was a tough one.  Were you the guy asking for Bud Light at the water station?  I think we were pretty much neck and neck on the last lap of the run but you got away from me in the last couple hundred meters.    edit: oh, i see now, the clock said 2:33 but my time was actually 2:36.  If it was you you got away from me a little better than I thought!
