Comments: I did so many things wrong for this race. Where to start? not enough training, period. I MUST hill train - they've got me whooped physically AND mentally. No water - and no water stops on the course?! Just some freezie ice stuff which I wanted no part of. Ran with Louie (my finacee) and felt pressure to do well. Which worked in reverse. My Ipod had crappy music and the voices in my head drowed out the bad music. FAT voices. What would you do differently?: train. Starting today. Every day. Including hills. I WILL be ready for the next race. and I committed to doing the HIM in August to a friend. Now it's real. I'd better be ready - or it will kill me. Maybe literally. Post race
Warm down: I wore a cotton shirt - and it was not just drenched but so cold that I'm convinced I was on the verge of hypothermia. I couldn't make even simple decisions. I stared at a cup of water not knowing what to do with it. Thank goodness for the people around me or I would have just laid down and frozen. What limited your ability to perform faster: training. and self esteem. Event comments: no water on the course? wait. Maybe that was water but it froze. Now I'm not sure. But I think it was icees. Who drinks icees during a race in the snow. This is Seattle, NOT antarctica! Last updated: 2009-03-16 12:00 AM
