Hi all,

Bought myself a present tonight for a job well done in tommorows race. I bought myself a pair of Brooks Beast. They felt real good running in them. Don't worry I know not to use brand new shoes in a race.

Hoo! Way to go! I've never tried Brooks, let us know how you like them. I've always been partial to New Balance...my feet just seem to fall in love with them. When you find a good pair, buy an extra set if you can...shoe manufacturers are really good and discontinuing models and then your search starts all over again.

gotta love new shoes!  I have a pair of Asics 1080's that were new over a year ago, but never wore them until a few days ago.  I love these shoes!  I messed with the 2040's - 2060's and finally tried the Gel Kayanos (at about $120 a pop I think).  These 1080's beat them all, hands down.

I was wearing new balances (716) but did not have any advice when I bought them and they were not good for a heavier runner. My knees ached and achilles ached so I bought and insert for them and they ended up pretty good for me. When I tried on the NB that are like the beast and did a couple of laps the inside of my ankle felt pressure. So I went for the Beast.

I wanted to try a pair of Beasts yesterday at lunch but the runnng shop was just packed and all I got to do was look at them and barely touch them. There was not even enough room for me to sit down and try them on! Right now I'm running on last year's pair of Asics 1080's which feel great but have part of the rubber sole peeling off; it is annoying to hear the slap as I am running along especially on the trainer. I am sort of torn between my 1080's and the Beast for a new pair so I will have to give this much thought.

No matter how wonderful the shoe (and I love my Ascics Nimbus) I don't think I will EVER be able to say I love running. If I could just get to "like" I would be happy!!!!

The race was fun. Had breathing problems because of the cold weather but legs felt fine. But now 4 days later my legs are still killing me so I have not used the beast for running yet. Just from the brief time I did try running my feet are reacting the same way they did when I first bought my NB, so I still might have to buy. Sorry I could not be more informative.
