Age Group Rank = 16/80
Event warmup:

1.5 mile walk to swim start.
Swim
  • 36m 45s
  • 2150 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt great on the swim. The wave start made it not crowded hardly at all and everyone could just cruise. Water felt great as well.
Transition 1
  • 05m 19s
Comments:

Had to take a short bathroom break on the way to the bike.
The transition area was huge, so this accounts for some time. I did pretty well, don't really know how i would have gone faster considering.
Bike
  • 2h 41m 19s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.83 mile/hr
Comments:

I really pushed hard on the bike and i was passing a ton of people all the time considering the sice of the field. It got hot and humid quick, so i tried to increase what I was drinking but i guess i didn't get enough electrolytes and fluids and i started to cramp at the last quarter mile in, which did not bode well for the run.
Transition 2
  • 03m 13s
Comments:

Decent, tried to stretch my hamstring some b/c they cramped on bike... then headed off.
Run
  • 1h 57m 7s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

I died, i was cramping both in my legs and my stomach. I couldn't pick up my pace without cramping. Had to stop a lot of times at bathrooms to try and relieve myself. Also, ended up walking at aid stations and a bit every couple miles about half-way through. I am surprised i salvaged an under 2 hour run. I also took a bit more time once i knew that i wasn't going to break 5 hours. Sigh.
What would you do differently?:

Nutrition practice and train in heat more, which was hard b/c its been winter until april 5th, race day.
Post race
Warm down:

water, stretch, smoothies, banana, beignets

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nutrition and cramps.

Well done! I think the heat and humidity took a lot of folks. Way to hang in there, though!

That was ROUGH!  And we should be used to heat and humidity.  Way to suck it up, though.  Thought it was a pretty awesome race.

The heat/humidity got to me as well... it was a brutal day but a great race way to push through it!

I'd say this was still a phenomenal race for you! The heat was intense and took a lot out of all of us. I should have had some post-race beignets instead of eating two orders yesterday! It was great to finally meet you. Thanks for the ride after the race
