Small transition area, but not many racers. No need to run with bike, jump on bike, and get up to speed while getting into shoes. Had GU and water before jumping on bike.

Nothing.

Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

My heart rate, I focused on keeping within my lactate threshold and not exceeding, even though I did during the first run.

Event comments:

Good duathlon race for people interested in simply trying. Lots of support from fellow racers and volunteers. Not an overly difficult course, but challenging nontheless.

Performance: Good
Heart rate was above lactate threshold for a while but averaged out right at threshold level. I did not feel I was pushing too hard.
Course: Mostly single-track trails with a few hill climbs. Korak Attack was removed this year, but hill climb in place of it was longer and more difficult. The course was also muddy in spots making my shoes brown instead of white. Plenty of shade along the run. Three hydration stations provided Cytomax and water along the run.

Biking
00:47:51 | 14 miles | 17.55 mile/hr

Overall: 0/
Performance: Below average
Heart rate averaged below lactate hreshold, but I did not notice if at anytime HR went above.
Wind: Little with gusts
Course: Roads were extremely bumpy. My aerobars and drink holder rattled endlessly. Ended up having to stop and dump out drink in holder because useless and spraying all over. Two lap course with two short segments worthy of using aerobars. Consider using road bike, aerobars might be overkill. The roadway also had spots of water from recent rains.
