Run
Comments: It rained hard in the early morning after light rain all night, so the course was much muddier than the last time I did it, although the streams were warmer. I didn't have the issue with numb feet after they got wet that I did two years ago. I enjoyed getting all mucky and muddy and the temperature was just right for the run. I didn't have my mp3 player, since it died a few days before the race, but I didn't miss it at all. Even though my time was over six minutes faster, I really didn't push myself. I noticed when there was about three miles left that I had a lot left, so I did step it up for the last bit. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I didn't plan on pushing it that much. Post race
Warm down: I walked around for a few minutes, waiting for Carrie to finish. It started raining again after it had stopped near the end of the race. We ended up waiting a long time to get Carrie's chocolate for having carried a raw egg all the way and thus I got pretty cold by the time we left. What limited your ability to perform faster: I just didn't push it that much. Still, I would've finished sooner if I hadn't been forced to walk the last two hills by the people in front of me. Event comments: I love trail running. Last updated: 2009-04-06 12:00 AM

Got up at around 6, had one cup of coffee and some oatmeal.
Nothing, really. Just tried to stay as warm as possible in the rain.
