Pre-race routine:

PB and honey for b-fast with a high protein ensure. hit the train to get downtown/to starting line, and drank water along the way.
Event warmup:

Porta potty lines.... where I cheered on the fools who lined up at the starting line for the gun to go off. ;) I made it across the finish line within 3 minutes or so of the gun start, and I hadn't even made it to the front of the potty line when the gun went off. Not bad! ;)

Comments:

I used the water/gatorade supplied on the course at every aid station, and I took a (high salt) shot block with water at every other aid station. I didn't have any lower GI problems through the entire race, aside from pre-race jitters, so I think the nutrition plan was perfect. i did have to pee during the race, so I think the hydration was about right as well. I stopped to wait in the potty lines 3 times before I actually waited long enough to use the potty (the lines were really long...). And of course every potty after the stop I made had NO lines. Just my luck! ;)
What would you do differently?:

Not stop to pee until after mile 9.
Post race
Warm down:

Um, stumbled around the gateway plaza, found my hubby, son, and mom, then went off to find coworkers for a group photo op. THEN I had someone show me where all the food was--grabbed a banana and a creamie, downed a bottle of water. Eventually went back for a massage from a massage student (still worth it...) Talked my hubby and mom into stopping on the way home for Tai food. Yummy!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I hit a little bit of a mental roadblock at about mile 11, when the course started up the slight incline. It loomed ahead, and looked sooo much worse than it was. Mile 12 didn't start out much better, but it got better once we turned a started down a gentle downhill--a false flat really. By that time I was spent. I had to walk. I had been maintaining an 11:30 pace throughout the race until then. Also, I should not have taken any water at the last aid station. It kind of upset my stomach.
