I plan my day around exercise, eat for my workouts and no other particular reason, get up at 5am to train etc but I don't think I'm addicted, I'll take a day off if need be and put off training if there is something I'd prefer to do instead.

Where it says only 30 mins a day is required... thats kind of bull **** because how can you possibly train for endurance sports in 30 mins a day? lol

I just train because its fun most of the time (not speed work!) and because if I don;t train enough, I won't be able to complete the races I do while having fun at the same time.

Body builders I think fit more into exercise addictions and less triathletes IMO

Cool article though

Very intelligent article, and definitly something people need to keep in mind while training.

I can think of a few body builders at my gym who might be addicts. A few years ago, I started talking to a muscle-head guy there, and I said I felt my biggest problem was diet, specifically overeating. He said I looked fine and said: "Be careful, because exercising in front of these mirrors every day will give you a body image disorder like me." Kinda odd and interesting at the same time.

Very good article.

They make some very good points as to what constitutes addiction (running while wife in labor, running in thunderstorms, etc) and how it may have come about.

Thanks for posting that article.

Yes, please.

Although, there is such a thing as a good addiction. Monomaniacal people often produce the best work in a variety of fields, but they're either real aholes or freaks in person.
