Total Time = 1h 16m 13s
Overall Rank = 99/901
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 22/101
Pre-race routine:

Not my normal gig... had a Clif Bar w/ Peanut Butter and half of a Diet Rockstar Energy Drink, 20oz of lemon lime G2 gatorade & a few swigs of water.
Event warmup:

Only time for 100-150m of swimming... Lines, lines and mor lines...getting into transition area and for the porta potty.
Swim
  • 10m 6s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 01s / 100 meters
Comments:

Started out strong - maybe too fast? Lost my breathing about 100m - 200m into the swim and struggled for the next 200m... had a strong stretch going into the finish. Very calm water, but the wave was jam packed for this course (good training for upcoming HIM & IM races)
What would you do differently?:

Not sure what really went wrong... Maybe start out a little easier and build up to the faster pace I thought for sure I could swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

long run from water to bike and then to mount bike... but overall I had a good transition.
What would you do differently?:

nothing...
Bike
  • 00m
  • 15 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike started out well and had some GREAT moments in there... was pushing 26mph for a couple miles and felt good, until left calf began to cramp! Slowed, tried to stretch and kept hammerin' I call this just an avg bike.
Cadence meter wasn't working... knocked out of alignment, so I didn't know what my cadence was...that was a little frustrating for me... I like to see my cadence in relation to my gear choice.
What would you do differently?:

Endurolytes before the swim... help with cramping during the bike and run...
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

The bike next to mine fell over when I racked my bike... wasted a few seconds picking the guys bike up who was NOT racked properly!
What would you do differently?:

nothing really... in & out nicely!
Run
  • 20m 56s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Pushed as hard as I could on this day! Not my best run, but still very solid!
What would you do differently?:

nothing...
Post race
Warm down:

Some stretching, food and a beer!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure... a week off prior to the event? the stress of the week prior? morning race routine out of whack? Not really sure!!!

Event comments:

This is a great race in the Houston area. The swim course was a little tight for a 100 swimmer wave... but that is my only some-what negative remark about this event! I will probably race this event again in the future!
