Pre-race routine:

I awoke with stomach pain. I didn't feel nervous so I don't think that was it. Regardless I hit the bathroom 7 times before the race.
Event warmup:

I parked at the hospital and jogged the several blocks to the starting area.

What would you do differently?:

The stomach trouble stayed with me for seven of the thirteen miles, but I missed my best time by only two minutes. I would work more on hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the recovery area and found stuff to eat. I had friends running the marathon so I found a covered area to sit and watch the race until they finished. The winner of the marathon clocked a 2:18. Twenty-two minutes more then it took me to run half. Not fair.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my stomach

Event comments:

The only negative I'd offer is the crowd around the recovery entrance/exit blocked the way. Rumor has it the finish will be on the Hayward Field track next year. Great.

Course: Eugene is green and scenic. It's a great course through the university district, the south end of town and back north onto the bike paths along the river. The start and finish were located in front of historic Hayward Field.
